We do not recommend quartz for outdoor use. The UV rays from direct sunlight can break down the resin binders in quartz, causing discoloration and warping over time. Granite is the best natural stone choice for outdoor kitchens and patios — it handles UV, heat, and NH's freeze-thaw cycles well.

How thick should my countertops be?

Accepted Answer

Most residential countertops are available in 2cm (3/4") and 3cm (1-1/4") thicknesses. 3cm is the industry standard for kitchens — it's heavier and more robust, doesn't require plywood underlayment, and gives a more substantial look. 2cm can be used for bathrooms and with additional support. We'll recommend the right thickness for your specific application.
