Why Stone for Your Bathroom
A Bathroom That Feels Like a Retreat
The bathroom is the first space you enter in the morning and the last you leave at night. A beautifully crafted stone vanity top transforms that daily routine — turning an ordinary space into something that genuinely elevates how you feel in your home.
Unlike prefabricated box-store tops, a custom stone countertop is cut to fit your exact vanity dimensions — no awkward overhangs, no seams in the wrong places, no settling for a standard size that almost fits. Start by visiting our showroom in Epsom, NH to see and touch real slabs in person. We template your space precisely, fabricate in-house at our Manchester, NH fabrication shop, and install with care throughout our entire New Hampshire service area.
Whether you're renovating a master bath with luxury marble, refreshing a kids' bathroom with practical quartz, or making a statement in a powder room, Precision Granite Works has the material, the craftsmanship, and the expertise to get it right. See our full process for details on how a project comes together from consultation to install.
Choose Your Material
Bathroom Countertop Materials
Not all materials are equal for every bathroom. Here's what you need to know to make the right choice for each space.
Marble
Timeless luxury
Marble is the gold standard for master bath vanities. Its soft veining and luminous surface create a spa-like atmosphere that elevates any bathroom. White Carrara, Calacatta, and Statuario are perennially popular choices.
- Unmatched elegance and prestige
- Every slab is uniquely beautiful
- Cool to the touch — ideal for bathrooms
- Adds significant home value
Quartz
Low-maintenance perfection
Quartz is the top choice for busy family bathrooms and kids' baths. It's non-porous, never needs sealing, and resists stains from toothpaste, soap, and cosmetics. Available in hundreds of colors and patterns.
- Never needs sealing
- Highly stain-resistant
- Consistent color and pattern
- Ideal for heavy-use bathrooms
Granite
Durable and distinctive
Granite delivers a striking, one-of-a-kind look with exceptional durability. Its natural variation ensures your vanity top is completely unique. Granite is also incredibly hard and resistant to daily wear.
- Extremely durable and scratch-resistant
- Every slab is unique
- Wide range of colors and patterns
- Excellent long-term value
Quartzite
Natural stone, enhanced performance
Quartzite offers the organic beauty of marble with the hardness of granite. If you love the look of marble veining but want a more durable, lower-maintenance option, quartzite is the ideal compromise.
- Harder and more durable than marble
- Beautiful natural veining
- More stain-resistant than marble
- Unique, natural appearance

Dramatic Stone That Commands Attention
This single-sink vanity showcases exactly what sets natural stone apart from any manufactured surface — the bold, sweeping movement you simply cannot replicate. Each slab is entirely unique, meaning no two vanities ever look the same.
Paired with white shaker cabinets and matte black hardware, the contrast is striking. This is the kind of bathroom upgrade that stops guests mid-sentence. We fabricated and installed this top for a homeowner in New Hampshire — precision-cut for an undermount sink with a polished edge profile.

Tailored to Your Space
The Right Choice for Every Bathroom
Different bathrooms have different demands. Here's how to think about material selection by room type.
Master Bath
Your master bathroom is a personal retreat — the one room in the house that's entirely yours. We recommend premium materials like marble, quartzite, or exotic granite that reward the extra care. A large-format vanity top with an undermount sink creates a seamless, spa-inspired look.
Family & Kids' Baths
High-traffic family bathrooms need a countertop that can handle daily abuse without showing it. Quartz is our top recommendation: it's non-porous, stain-resistant, and wipe-clean easy. Choose a mid-tone or patterned quartz that hides water spots and toothpaste splatter.
Powder Room
The powder room is often a guest's first impression of your home. Since it sees light traffic and no water immersion, you can use almost any material here — including marble or more delicate stones — with confidence. Go bold: a dramatic veined marble or striking granite makes a statement.
Sink & Installation Options
We cut and fabricate for any sink configuration — here's what's available for your bathroom vanity.
Undermount Sink
The most popular choice for stone vanities. The countertop edge is visible from above the sink basin for a seamless, easy-clean look.
Vessel Sink Opening
We cut a precisely sized opening to accommodate vessel sinks that sit on top of the counter for a modern, sculptural effect.
Drop-In / Overmount
Traditional self-rimming sinks drop into a cut hole. Straightforward, cost-effective, and compatible with any material.
Integrated & Custom
Ask about custom configurations including double-basin cuts, farmhouse vanity support, and built-in soap dish recesses.

Layout Planning
Single and Double Vanity Layout
A single vanity is straightforward: the sink is typically centered on the cabinet, with the faucet centered above it and a standard depth around 22 inches. Most powder rooms and secondary bathrooms use this layout.
A double vanity needs more planning. We confirm sink spacing during templating so both basins have comfortable elbow room, and we plan faucet placement to line up with each sink individually rather than the cabinet as a whole. Longer double-vanity runs sometimes require a seam between the two sinks — we place that seam in the least visible spot, usually centered between the basins, and match veining across the joint so the stone reads as continuous. When a single slab can span the full run, we use that instead.
Bathroom vanities often run wall-to-wall, so the stone must be scribed to fit walls that aren't perfectly straight, and a small side splash where the countertop meets a side wall keeps water off the cabinetry. Every layout detail — sink spacing, seam placement, and wall fit — gets finalized during your templating visit. Want a fully custom shape or layout? Visit our Custom Countertops page.

Backsplashes
Bathroom Backsplash Options
Your backsplash choice affects both the look of your vanity and how easy it is to keep clean around the sink and faucet.
Standard backsplash
A short strip (typically 4 inches) of matching stone along the back wall — catches splashes at the sink without covering the full wall.
Side splash
A small return piece where the vanity top meets a side wall, protecting cabinetry, paint, or wallpaper from water that runs off the counter edge.
Full-height vanity backsplash
The same slab extends up to the mirror or ceiling, continuing the veining with no grout lines — the easiest option to wipe clean behind faucets and soap dispensers.
Stone vs. tile
A matching stone backsplash gives seamless, continuous vein movement from counter to wall. A tile backsplash allows more color and pattern variety and can be a practical choice for larger wall areas paired with a stone vanity top.
Both stone and properly sealed tile backsplashes hold up well to bathroom humidity and water exposure. We'll help you weigh matching veining against pattern variety at your Epsom showroom visit or during templating.
Budget-Friendly Options
Remnants for Small Bathrooms and Powder Rooms
A single-sink vanity top rarely needs a full slab of stone. Remnants — leftover pieces from larger kitchen and countertop projects — are often large enough to cover a powder room or small bathroom vanity, making them a practical option if you love natural stone but don't need (or want to pay for) an entire slab.
Remnant inventory changes as new projects move through our shop, so specific colors and sizes can't be guaranteed at any given time. The best way to see what's currently available is to visit our showroom or give us a call before finalizing your material — we'll let you know honestly whether a remnant will work for your vanity or if a small custom-cut slab makes more sense. Common Questions
Bathroom Countertop FAQ
What's the best material for a bathroom vanity top?
It depends on the bathroom. Quartz is the easiest to live with — it never needs sealing and resists stains from toothpaste, cosmetics, and soap, which makes it the top choice for kids' and family bathrooms. Granite and quartzite are extremely durable and only need sealing once or twice a year, and both work well in master baths and guest baths. Marble is the most luxurious option and is well-suited to bathrooms since it isn't exposed to the acidic foods and heavy knife use that affect kitchen marble — but it still needs regular sealing and prompt spill cleanup.
Can I use a remnant for my bathroom vanity top?
Often, yes. Remnants are leftover pieces from larger kitchen and countertop projects, and a single-sink vanity top typically doesn't require a full slab, which makes remnants a practical option for powder rooms and small bathrooms. Remnant selection changes as new projects come through our shop, so availability and specific colors can't be guaranteed — the best way to check current options is to visit our showroom or call us before you finalize your material choice.
How often does a stone bathroom vanity need to be sealed?
Granite and quartzite vanity tops typically need sealing once or twice a year. Marble needs more frequent attention, generally every 6–12 months. Quartz never needs sealing at all since it's non-porous. Bathroom humidity is generally gentler on sealed stone than kitchen use, but we'll give you a sealing schedule specific to your material when your project is complete.
Can I get an undermount sink with my bathroom countertop?
Yes — undermount sinks are the most popular choice for stone bathroom vanities because the countertop edge is visible from above the basin, creating a clean, easy-to-wipe look with no rim to catch grime. We also cut for vessel sinks, drop-in sinks, and custom configurations like double-basin vanities.
What do I need to decide before my bathroom templating visit?
Have your sink style (undermount, vessel, or drop-in), faucet model, and any soap dispenser or accessory holes finalized before templating, along with your chosen material and edge profile. For double vanities, we'll also confirm sink spacing and seam placement during the same visit. Locking these in ahead of time keeps your fabrication and installation on schedule.
How do double vanities work with seams and matching veining?
Longer double-vanity runs sometimes require a seam between the two sink areas, depending on available slab size. During templating, we plan the seam location to fall in the least visible spot — usually centered between the sinks — and match veining across the joint so the transition reads as continuous rather than pieced together. If a single slab can span your full double vanity, we'll use that option when the layout allows.
What backsplash options are available for a bathroom vanity?
Most vanities get either a standard 4-inch backsplash along the back wall or a full-height backsplash that extends the same stone up to the mirror or ceiling for a seamless, grout-free look. Side splashes — small return pieces where the countertop meets a side wall — are also common and help protect cabinetry and walls from water. We can also pair a stone countertop with a tile backsplash if you want more color or pattern variety on the wall.
What's included in bathroom countertop installation?
Our bathroom installation includes digital templating, custom fabrication at our Manchester, NH fabrication shop, sink and faucet cutouts, seam placement and matching for double vanities, backsplash cuts, removal and disposal of your old countertop, and thorough cleanup. Everything is itemized in your quote before work begins.
